Darryl Lynn "D.L." Hughley (born March 6, 1963) is an American actor, stand-up comedian and star of the television sitcom The Hughleys, which ran from 1998 to 2002 on ABC and then on UPN.
Career
From 1992 to 1993, he was the original host of ComicView, the stand-up comedy program on BET. During 2005, he had a short-lived talk show on Comedy Central called Weekends at the D.L..
He has also had roles on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and as Turk's brother on Scrubs. EDT on CNN's flagship channel.
Hughley is reported to have turned down other offers from MSNBC and Cinemax for other topic news shows.
When questioned about why he chose CNN, he said Larry King made a personal phone call to him one evening ask him to opt in with the network.
Personal life
Hughley was born in Los Angeles, California, the son of Audrey and Charles Hughley, who was a Delta Air Lines maintenance worker.
