Dagny Knutson
Knutson currently holds the American record in 400-yard IM and was voted North Dakota's top sports story of 2008 by the Associated Press. She also holds several high school national records.
Swimming career
At the 2008 FINA Youth World Swimming Championships, Knutson won a total of five medals, all of them gold. At the 2008 Short Course Nationals, Knutson broke Katie Hoff 's American Record in the 400y IM with a time of 4:00.62. She won a total of three events, setting one American and two Championship records. At the 2009 Junior Pac Pacs, She set five meet records while winning seven gold medals and a bronze.
Personal life
Dagny Knutson started swimming at the age of 9.
Her parents were both college athletes. Knutson has stated her first name, Dagny, is Norwegian. USA Swimming National Team Director Mark Schubert said about Knutson, "She doesn't seem to be afraid to race anybody or intimidated by anybody, those are really spectacular times. You always wonder if somebody who can swim times like that can do it against really good competition.
