Pac Sun
The current corporate offices are now located in Anaheim, California with a distribution center in Olathe, Kansas.
The store started as a surf shop in 1980 under a different name, selling surfboards and wax. The first mall store opened in 1981 in Santa Monica Place in Santa Monica, California.
More recently, the company has opened up to more styles than just surfwear, adding sweatshirts, jeans, accessories, often associated with skateboarding culture to keep up with current trends. Pacific Sunwear used to carry shoes, but due to a low profit margin, shoe sales were discontinued in all stores in April, 2008.
Popular clothing brands sold at the store include Adio, Alpinestars, Billabong, Bullhead, C1RCA, Columbia Sportswear, Converse, Dakine, DC Shoes, DCMA Collective, Electric, Element, eS, Etnies, and Ezekiel. The company's stock is publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol PSUN.
