Q-Drive
Quantum's proprietary high-performance plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) architecture - known as "Q-Drive" - has evolved over five years of development at Quantum. Quantum's Q-Drive system uses electric drive systems while achieving fuel high mileage and low emissions through its integrated plug-in hybrid electric design.
Supposed benefits of Quantum's drive system include optimized fuel efficiency and superior performance, unchanged gas station infrastructure, and battery recharging with any 110-volt outlet, 220/240-volt fast-charging, or using Quantum's solar energy powered re-charging station.
Quantum will supply its Q Drive plug-in hybrid electric drive system for all Fisker Automotive models. Quantum's Q-Drive PHEV system will allow Fisker drivers to drive for up to 50 miles a day following at home recharging every evening.
Fisker Automotive
Quantum co-founded Fisker Automotive (
http://www.fiskerautomotive.com), and developed proprietary high performance plug-in-hybrid powertrain system (Q-Drive) that powers Fisker Karma and Karma S automobiles.
Quantum is also a manufacturer and provider of solar systems.
Quantum acquired a 25% stake in German solar panel manufacturing company, Asola, in 2007. The company is the US distributor of Asola solar panels for commercial and residential use, manufactured by its partner Asola in Germany.
It is also establishing a 45MW production facility for Asola panels in Irvine, California to supply the US market.
